When Its Hot Out…Eat Ice Cream

For the past few days Toronto has been hit with a crazy heat wave…making outdoor play during the afternoons almost impossible.  Its the kind of heat where you can’t breathe, and the inside of your outdoor parked car is just as blistering as the outside air.  So we compensate by heading outdoors in the late evening, after dinner.  We head straight to our favorite ice cream spot across the street from Trinity Bellwoods Park.

We hitch M to the wagon, plop J down and head on out.  The lady behind the cash of our building dry cleaning service comes out and offers J not 1 but 2 helium filled balloons.  I quickly realize to my horror, that this is the first time Johannes has ever seen a balloon!  What kind of horrible mom am I!

We quickly get our ice cream and head straight for the park.  The green grass is calling our name.  J has a few bites of ice cream and wiggles his way out of my grasp.  He races for his wagon and spends the next 30minutes pushing it around.  He exerts a lot of energy that little peanut.

Pretty soon its time to head home.  We scoop up our sweaty boy and hit the road.  8pm…sweet sweet sleep.

oh…and on our way home I rediscovered the cutest little boutique.  Unfortunatley it was closed, but I will be back soon!

what a lovely tradition. It’s been so hot here too…until the rain started coming. Both situations leave us relegated to the indoors. he looks so cute in those shorts!
