Toronto Christmas Market & a Concert

I’ve been secretly wanting to go to the Christmas Market in Toronto’s distillery district for about 2 years now and every year something seems to come up.  This year though we vowed to take Johannes and let him enjoy the rides, the beaver tails and the hot chocolate.  Except he had plans of his own.  We had a wonderful time for about 10minutes walking to the carousel…as soon as Johannes saw the carousel he wanted to go on.  Trying to explain to our head strong toddler that he had to have a ticket first, was futile.  He huffed and he puffed, and he screamed as loud as his little lungs could.  We finally managed to get tickets and enjoy the ride for another 5 minutes until the ride was over and then another tantrum arose.  There was no negotiating after that, we decided it was best to cut our losses and head home.

I suppose I should have been upset or flustered.  But somehow these episodes seem to phase me less and less.  And even more so I’m phased less and less by other judgmental eyes…they will all get there one day if they have kids.  And if they don’t well I think its their loss really because having Johannes is the best thing I’ve ever done with my life and I’ll take the tantrums any day/every day for the chance to be his mom.  There’s always next year, and I bet he will appreciate that carousel and train ride even more then.

Oh and how could I forget, Johannes’ Christmas concert on Friday afternoon.  Although the performance was far from a Broadway show, it was really cute and I’m still gushing over it.  I was too excited and nervous to remember to take many photos, but there is this horribly blurry video if you care to watch…and a couple of “after” photos.

One more week until Christmas.  Hang on to your littles dearly and enjoy every minute.

Ana, I read your posts and I swear you are writing about Nicholas. If it makes you feel better…he didn’t get “into” any of the romantic Mommy-type things I had envisioned for him until he was about 5-6.
And I, too, could care less about The Glares of Others. You’re doing the right thing….
and PS: God invented alcoholic beverages for those extra-tough days ;)

Oh Ana, they are so sweet. It looks like Santa got a stage fright ha ha ha. It’s the cutest thing I’ve seen in a long time.
