I adore Lauren (@ladynoel) so so much. Her sweet personality shines through in every photograph she posts on Instagram. Lauren is a talented artist, wife and mother of two little boys…and her baking abilities are pretty fantastic too. She is an inspiration to me and so many other moms, I thought you all might like to meet her too.
Here’s what Lauren had to share:
Tell me a little bit about yourself and your family.
My Family! Well we are The Noel Family and there are four of us. My husband Rian, myself Lauren, and our two boys Dylan 5 and our youngest Keegan 4 who happens to have autism. We are quit the rambunctious bunch. We are all full of life and a large dose of WEIRD excluding my husband. He tends to be the only sane one out of the four of us. Both my boys are in pre-k. Keegan attends the Palm Beach School for Autism and its seriously the best thing to happen for our family. I am a stay at home mom but have two business that I run from here. My Cake business as well as selling custom paintings as well as reproduction prints. My husband works for the Omphoy resort in hospitality.
Describe a typical day/routine?
Our daily routine usually begins with the groaning and moaning from my husband and I as we are usually woken up by Keegan’s relentless jumping up and down of our bed. You seriously never get use to being woken up that way. We just don’t share his enthusiasm of waking up at 630 in the morning. Rian and I trade off every other day waking up with the kids and taking them to school its the only way we can function. The kids are in school the majority of the day so it gives me my time to concentrate on my next painting. Kids get picked up and as much as I can try to do something fun and exciting with the boys after school since Dad goes to work around 2. Its usually a trip to the zoo, or a walk to the inter coastal since we live only two blocks away.
Are there any special traditions, celebrations or customs your family partakes in?
I can’t say that we have too many traditions in our home. I know growing up we had many but I guess Rian and I never took the time to come up with any for our small family. I think the only one that we really do is Christmas eve where we all open one present which is always new pjs. Starting our own family traditions something that I’ve thought more of lately especially as the children are getting older.
What would people be most surprised to find out about you?
I mean come on my favorite pass time other than eating of course is painting. Its something that I never thought Id find myself doing as a means to make money and I am loving every bit of it. To be able to sit and create in my alone time is the best feeling and honestly the cheapest form of therapy.
Describe you children’s rooms decorating style?
The boys room doesn’t really have a solid theme or color scheme. To be honest its just a normal fun kids room. I learned along time ago that trying to control the chaos of my kids room was hopeless. The walls are beautifully covered in many of Dylan’s own personal masterpieces, as well as posters of all sorts of Dinosaurs. There are splashes of colors all over their room from their red bunk bed to the multi colored sheets, to the array of misc toys and books. I think once the boys get older I’ll be able to have a little more order as far as shelving (because now Keegan climbs on everything) and beautiful framed art pieces and pictures. For now the boys and I are just in love with how cozy and colorful their room is.
What is your favorite room in the house and why?
How easy is it to meet other moms in your community?
I think I have had this conversation with a handful of my fellow IG mom friends. Meeting mom friends is no easy task. For me being a mother of a child with autism my life is very demanding and I am never that mom that just sits on the bench and chats away with other moms, or that mom at the library or beach that can just sit back and relax. I’m always inches behind Keegan making sure he doesn’t run off or accidentally get trampled on by other kids. So for me its so hard to strike up a conversation with another mom. I do think that a lot of my insecurities about being a young mom and thinking that other older moms are judging me gets in the way a lot. I am constantly over analyzing things especially when it comes to meeting other women/moms.
What surprised you most about motherhood?
I could write a very long list of things that surprised me about motherhood, But ill pick just one. for me what really surprised me was that instant connection the bond you have with your child. Its hard to explain to anyone that asks but only you as a mother truly understand. Its the bond that’s created even from the beginning, pregnancy. Its the different bonds that i have with both my boys that surprise me everyday. the sheer magnitude of my love for them i think surprises me even now. Its crazy how much you can love someone so intensely let alone love two in that way.
What’s your philosophy on “eating your vegetables”?
If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and who would you bring along?
Oh I love this question!!I am a Sagittarius which means we are all about traveling or maybe that’s just always been in my nature to want to get out into the world and explore new places. In my opinion I think it adds something extra to your character and i believe its so important to experience other cultures. If I could go anywhere I would have to say Id love to go back to France. That was a time in my life when so many things changed for me. The people the food and the art I saw and got to experience was positively beautiful. Of course Id like to experience that all again with my family my children and i think I would bring my mother and sisters along.
What role does Instagram play in your life?
What have you found most surprising about Instagram?
One of my favorite quotes is this “The strength of a woman is not measured by the impact that all her hardships in life have had on her; but the strength of a woman is measured by the extent of her refusal to allow those hardships to dictate her and who she becomes” C. JoyBell C.
Thank you so much Lauren for sharing your family with us for a little bit today. These interviews are so much fun to put together, but they would be nothing without each one of you. Thank you so much for being a part of it all. You can find Lauren through her Etsy shop or on Instagram.
