Succulents in cute jars, pots, terrariums…what have you, seem to be really on trend, but that’s not why I like them. I like them because they’re almost indestructible, I mean really they truly are. I am notorious for forgetting to water my plants, or over-watering, but these guys are infallible. As a bonus, planting them in cute vases around your house is about as inexpensive as a trip to your local coffee shop.
I found these copper cream and sugar pots at Value Village for $1.99 all in…score! Gravel is found at the local play ground. The succulents I bought at Ikea for $2.99 a piece, and the soil was from a local nursery. All you really need to know when planting succulents in containers that don’t drain (meaning no hole at the bottom of the pot…I didn’t know this before), is a layer of gravel on the bottom of the container.
Personally I like succulents best displayed in clusters and various types, but individual planters are pretty cool too. And just think, next time you have a housewarming to go to you can bring one of these beauties along for a personal touch.
