Michael, Johannes and I moved into our little house in April of 2013. We quickly got to work designing our space, buying furniture and hanging up photos. I loved creating a little gallery wall above our dining room teak credenza. I picked my favourite photos, memories and milestones and hung them up the best I could. Back then we were the core of this family, two boys, one mom so naturally all our photos were of mostly us.
Two and a half years later and we have another boy in the mix. A beautiful funny boy who needs to be on that family wall also, because his milestones and laughter bring all of us such joy. So it was with a little sadness but mostly excitement that on Saturday Michael and I dismantled our old little gallery wall and got to work on a new one for our new family…a much much bigger one with much more polish.
The second time around we did things differently. We decided to use the Canon PIXMA Pro-100 photo printer to print all our favourite photos that we’ve taken. I loved being able to print my photos at home in whatever size I needed or wanted. I was able to do this during Magnus and Johannes’ nap time, and not have to try and rush to a printer to pick anything up. The quality of the photographs is incredible compared to the usual big-box store prints we would get.
When the boys woke from their naps they were eager to “help”, so we went through the photos we’d picked. What really hit home for me was the photo of the very first time Johannes came to meet Magnus at the hospital. Both the boys were so little. I was a ball of nerves with worry that maybe Johannes would be scared or wouldn’t immediately accept his brother. And then they met, and it was magic. I remember that moment clear as day but to get to look at it again with both the boys together was something else. It was as though Magnus knew what it meant, and kept pointing to the “baby” while looking up at me.
And then of course we couldn’t help but laugh at the photo of the kids from last Christmas when Magnus took a big poop while Johannes was trying to give him a squish. So many memories! The one and most important reason we wanted this gallery wall in the first place is the memories.
For the gallery wall itself we used the Canon Picturewall 10 Piece System in white. It came with all 10 frames we wanted to use, all the mounting hardware AND (the most important part for us) a TEMPLATE! We simply followed the instructions, mounted the template to the wall and hung the photos. Easy peasy and just wait until you see the final reveal next week!
Since I love Canon so much for my camera equipment, printers, frames, lenses….basically everything, we partnered to giveaway a Canon Picturewall 10 Piece System Bundle to one lucky winner!!!! How excited are you?! The contest is open to Canadian residents only this time and runs from now until September 27th, when I will announce the winner on the blog.
