new heart trays from West Elm ready for Valentines Day
This week had its ups and downs but it ended on a positive note tonight so that’s all I’m going to focus on. You know that I’ve been working towards shedding the excess weight and after a month of working out {although not super consistently} but eating healthy 90% of the time, I’m officially down 5lbs and out of the 150s! Its a small victory but its a start and it means that what I’m doing is right for me.
The best part is that I don’t feel deprived in terms of nutrition. My 3rd week eating this way was the hardest. I was experiencing stress and it affected me negatively. I had one day when I gave in to my cravings, ate pizza, felt completely guilty and vowed not to do it again.
So what’s my eating like you might wonder? I’ve cut out starchy carbs and more importantly gluten. I cut out refined sugars, and all dairy {with the exception of a splash of milk in my morning coffee and non-fat greek yogurt}. I eat loads of protein, lots of salads and greens and I feel amazing. One meal a week I eat whatever I want, guilt free. Last week I had pizza, and the week before that I ate at my favorite restaurant. Usually the guilt free meal is on Thursdays or Fridays, I find those days to be the hardest and the times I crave the deliciously bad for you food I generally eat. The rest of the week I focus on being good. 5 meals a day, each one incorporating protein, and lots of water! I hope to be back to my pre-pregnancy weight in 3 weeks….just in time for my birthday…my 30th birthday.
But in addition to this a few other little nuggets of happiness took place this week.
vegan gluten-free dairy free breakfast at Fresh in Toronto
new straws and toxin-free crayons
the boys cooking dinner for mama on Sunday…melt
and
my new antique teak credenza I scored for a steal from CL…DIY project and restoration to follow!

beautifull blog!! look forward to your posts every day
Love the 1 day a week of guilt-free eating
But I know what you mean about when you indulge and then feel gross afterward…
I had pizza on Monday night and it was so weird, but it was good and I didn’t need much to feel full.
You know what I found really weird about this GD diet? On the nutrition guide (Canadian one), “dairy” is milk and yogourt, but cheeses are in a different category because they don’t have carbs. So that’s kind of weird, for me to be able to eat cheeses for the protein. They are in the meats and alternatives category. Of course, portion control is key, but just wanted to tell you that
Congratulations on the CL find! That looks amazing! I cannot wait to see what you do with it!
Best of luck with the food journey! You”re doing amazingly, and you will continue!
