Making it Pretty Photography Workshop in December

making-it-pretty-workshop

Hey guys, the Making it Pretty workshop is back on December 7 & 9!!  Everyone loves pretty photos, and if you own a blog or a small business those pictures are more important than ever.  If you’re looking to learn how to take better photos, how to use your DSLR camera functions (beginners welcome), how to edit your photos for your blog posts, then this is your kind of Workshop.  In addition to the Photography topics I am also covering iPhoneography for Instagram specific and Prettying your photos for online use.  Instagram is wildly important to businesses big and small, and knowing how to work with it is the most important topic of all which is why I am adding extra emphasis on it this time around.

The format of the workshop is simple, the workshop takes place in the BluebirdKisses forum, but it is accessible by password only.  I will be posting that day’s material online in the mornings, let you read through it and at a designated time I will be online for one hour to answer questions.  You also have the opportunity to meet other members on the forum, and networking is so important.  By keeping the workshop in a forum format you all have a chance to get to know one another, and me, ask questions on your time.  You are not obligated to participate at the designated time, the lessons and your access is left up for a month, so if you are away during the December 7 & 8 weekend, you can access the information at any time after and I will log in periodically to answer your questions.

So how do you sign up?  Head over to the BluebirdKisses Shop, once you’ve made your purchase I will contact you with the details.  Please note that anyone can join, but that space is limited.

Photography – Making it Pretty Free Workshop

One subject that seems to come up again and again in both emails I receive and in the forum is the subject of photography.  Specifically the “what” and “how” of my blog photos.

I first want to say that I am not a professional photographer by any means, but I have picked up a few tricks on photography and more importantly … editing … along the way.

I have been trying to figure out the best way for me to share this information and I think the best way is to create a workshop.  A free workshop…on the forum.  I want to keep this separate from the rest of the website and the forum so I will create a private sub-forum for those that are interested.  I would like to keep the numbers pretty low, since it will make it easier to interact and share information.

The details:

When:    April 20 – 22

Where:  Online – private sub-forum {by password only}

Who:      Anyone who wants to join.

Cost:      Free

If you are interested in this please send me an email to ana@bluebirdkisses.com

10min Smokey Eyes Tutorial

I have been meaning to do a makeup tutorial for a while now, and the past weekend’s wedding gave me the right subject to post about.

I secretly LOVE makeup!  It makes me feel pretty on days when I feel really not so attractive, and I used to always leave the house feeling put together.  If you’re anything like me, makeup is a huge “want” yet one of the first things that is by-passed by us busy mommas.  We just don’t have the luxury of spending 30min faffing around before a big outing.

With that in mind, there are occasions that call for that little extra special bit of GLAM!  Weddings, baptisms, nice dinners out.  With all that is going on with the babies, kids, husband, house…its nice to have a quick little tutorial to help you look super amazing!

What You Need:

  • Foundation or tinted moisturizer {for a light-weight alternative}.
  • Concealer.
  • Loose powder.
  • 3 pallate eyeshadows – could be 2 grays and a light color, or 2 browns and a light color.
  • Blush or brozer.
  • Mascara.
  • Eyeliner.
  • 4 brushes – eyeshadow brush, blending brush, foundation brush, powder brush.
  • Eyelash curler {if you wish}.

{my fave tinted moisturizer, brushes and curler}

Step 1:    Apply foundation to entire face {you can use a foundation brush}.  1 minute.

Step 2:  Apply concealer under eyes {use a foundation brush}. 1 minute.

Step 3:  Use a powder brush to apply loose powder all over the face.  30seconds.

{Laura Mercier Smokey Eye Palatte}

Step 4:  Apply light shadow all the way from the lid to the brow.  30 seconds.

Step 5:  Use the flat eyeshadow brush to press medium colored eyeshadow on the lid starting in the outer corner towards the middle.  Do not press all the way into the inner eye.  1 minute.

Step 6:  Use the flat eyeshadow brush to press dark colored eyeshadow on the lid starting in the outer corner, working into the brow bone and towards middle of the lid.  2 minutes.

Step 7:  Use a blending brush to blend the dark color above the eye brow.  30 seconds.

Step 8:  Apply eyeliner.  I like to use a liquid liner and apply it with a flat eyeliner brush.  1 minute.

Step 9:  Use an eyelash curler to curl eyelashes and apply 2 coats of mascara. 1 minute.

 Step 10:  Use the powder brush to apply blush or brozer to the apples of the cheeks.  1 minute.

Step 11:  Finish off with your favorite gloss for extra glam!  1 minute.
