Leaving On a Jet Plane….

I’m not sure why every time I am about to embark on a trip I think of this song, but I do!  I actually considered embedding the video to it in this post but it would have made this just crazy long!

So you may or may not already know that Michael, baby J and I are flying to Valencia, Spain today!  yey trip!  booo flying!  I am a TERRIBLE flyer, I get anxious and stressed out weeks in advance, and since having a baby it seems that this anxiety is even worse.  I am scared of everything right now…and hence why I am still awake at 12am writing this post.  I wanted to give you a little glimpse into my crazy head.  Brace yourselves, this will be a long post {with lots of pictures!}.

First off I headed to the 4 kid stores around our house to try and find anything that I figure will help distract baby J from fussing on the 7hr flight to Paris, the 2hr layover and the 3hr flight to Valencia.  So here is what I got him.

{portable I-doll…super cool Ipod hookup}

{lavander crib quilt and pillow…more on products in a later post}

{Safe sippy, Pura sippy with silacone spouts & Born Free sippy}

{mimi rattle}

{Jelly Cat soft book}

What was my little peanut doing while momma was taking pics?!?

 Next, I proceeded to head upstairs and start my own packing.  I generally tend to over-pack so this time I was determined to just take the BARE NECESSITIES!

I packed 4pairs of heels and 1 pair of flip flops {not pictured}.

{red Valentinos for the wedding}

{black patent leather Louboutin heels}

{nude Valentinos}

{teal patent leather Louboutin heels}

Then came the clothes;  6 dresses {wedding dress not pictured}, 3 cardigans, 3 silk tops, 1 pair of shorts, 1 pair of skinny jeans, one evening bag, 5 tank tops {not pictured}, plenty of undies! {not pictured for obvious reasons!}

{Robert Rodriguez Black Lable dress  /  Club Monaco dress  /  Alice+Olivia Prom dress  /   Alice+Olivia nude dress  /  Rachel Roy Orchid Print dress}

{Joe Fresh cardigan  /  Wilfred wrap  /  Joe Fresh white cardi}

{Talula silk and lace shirt  /  Alice+Olivia flowered top  /  trapeze shirt}

{Kindness is Always Fashionable beach bag  / straw fedora}

Light and dewy makeup for the Valencia heat and beautiful natural tones for the wedding makeup!  And don’t forget the lashes!

Airplane outfit.

{Wilfred striped cotton top  /  black Lacoste+Malandrino pants  /  black TOMS shoes  /  mom necklace I designed and had made  /  Marc Jacobs bowler}

Phew ok…now lets pack up Baby J!  Now this process took significantly more time.

First, I started pumping and storing milk  4 days before because I wanted to have 3 full 5oz bottles to take with us.  I also experimented making various baby foods {carrot, yam, pear} and successfully chose the pear puree to take on the plane with us, in 2 125mL canning jars.

Ok now for the pictures!  I decided we are taking all of J’s  things in the cabin with us, in order to avoid potentially losing his luggage in transit, so his items will be divided between the diaper bag and the Bumble Collection weekender bag {with less important items going into Michael’s suitcase}.

{4 tshirts, 2 pairs of jeans, 3 pairs of shorts, 6 short sleeved onsies, 8 shirt-short combo onesies, 2 butt butters, 1 bowtie, 1 body cream, body wash, wash cloths, towel…}

{shorts and belt}

{shirt-short combo onesies}

{2 pairs of baby shoes}

{Gucci diaper bag packed with Hooter Hiders, 2 changes of clothes and plenty of toys}

{Bumble Collection weekender bag packed with all the other clothes and plenty of diapers}

{entertainment toys for the little peanut}

{singing elephant and Aden+Anais swaddle blankets}

{giraffe lovey…baby J won’t sleep without it these days}

{books, Ipod and Idoll}

Ok so that’s it for us!  We are officially leaving today and returning August 14th, but I will be posting away from abroad  {maybe just not quite as often}.  Tune in on Monday August 1 though for an extra special GIVEAWAY Feature!!!!  Cheers!

Perfect Nursing Top {Fashion Fridays}

{Mariposa Top}

I am always so envious of European mommas and mommas-to-be, with their simple luxurious clothing and unassuming natural beauty.  I had a difficult time during my pregnancy, and now that I am a nursing momma, finding the right clothing to accommodate my needs.

This Mariposa top however is EXACTLY the type of staple I needed in my wardrobe!  Its perfect with jeans or shorts {in the summer}, accessorized with a beautiful long necklace and killer flat boots!  Divine!

The best part is the hidden side compartment for easy breastfeeding!

I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, that I am going to be on the lookout for this top during my trip to Valencia! LOVE LOVE!

Zoe’s Tranquil Orane and Pink Nursery

I am absolutely head over heels smitten with the nursery that momma Molly designed for her precious baby girl, Zoe!  The modern furniture with simple lines is so nicely complimented by the orange and pink wall art!  I love that this room could easily be transformed into a toddler room, kid room or even a teenager’s room.  Its simply just so beautiful!

About her inspiration for the nursery, Molly writes “I’ve had many sources of inspiration, but it took finding the peach/orange fabric in the bargain bin at Jo-Ann’s and the vintage Vera Neumann scarf on Etsy for the room concept to finally begin taking shape.”

One of my favorite elements of this room is the morrocan pouf! Its gorgeous and will come in super handy during those late night feedings, so momma can put her feet up and just relax!

Just last night I received a super lovely email from momma Molly,

Hi Ana!
Just had to share… my little Zoe Ellen was born on Sunday, July 24! We’re both home and doing great. I’m absolutely over the moon. 🙂

I just want to wish both Molly and baby Zoe a BIG Congratulations!!!  I bet she just looks so snuggly and cozy in her beautiful room!  Enjoy your precious little girl momma!!

Hot Bandanas Recipe {guest blogger}

MEET ANDREA!!  For a few weeks now I have been lurking through Andrea’s blog,  Things I Like and drooling over the delish looking entrees, appies and desserts she’s putting together.  Not to mention all the videos of the sweet little girl of hers {Penelope}!  So so cute!

Andrea inspires me to cook more, bake more and just spend more time in the kitchen, so I am super excited that she agreed to share one of her delicious recipes:  HOT BANDANAS! YUM!

This recipe was shared by a friend over ten years ago and has been a constant favorite!  Just read the ingredient list and you’ll see why.  You can’t go wrong!  Here’s what I learned…

1.  Use any olives you prefer.  I like kalamata and green.

2.  Tastes better if you let the mix marinate overnight.

3.  The recipe is versatile.  My husband does not care for olives so I sub pepperoni for him.

4.  Leftover filling makes great grilled cheese sandwiches!

7 oz. olives

1.5 C white onion, diced

1 pound roma tomatoes, chopped

1.5 C mozzarella cheese, diced

1 C Parmesan cheese, grated

2 cloves pressed garlic

2 teaspoons salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

2 teaspoons dried basil

1/4 C balsamic vinegar

1/3 C extra virgin olive oil

10 hard rolls

3 tablespoons soft butter

3 fresh basil leaves

Mix the olives, onion, tomatoes, and cheeses in a large bowl.  Set aside.  Put the garlic, salt, pepper, dried basil, vinegar, and oil into a container with a cover and shake to combine.  Pour dressing over the olive mixture and toss gently to coat.  You can continue to the next step or let this marinate in the refrigerator overnight.

Prepare each roll by cutting a small shallow hole out of the top.  Keep the bread you cut out as it will be used to plug the hole at the end.  Pull out the soft inside of the rolls leaving a thin layer at the bottom.

Melt the butter and add fresh basil leaves.  Allow basil to infuse into the butter.  Brush the bottom of each roll with butter.  Fill each roll with olive mixture (make sure to pack it full) and replace the plug on top.  Wrap each sandwich individually with aluminum foil.  Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.

Thank you so much Andrea for sharing both your time and your recipe!  I have to try this one myself ASAP!  If you want more recipes and photos of yummy food, visit Andrea’s blog:  Things I like!

Baby Lukas {newborn photography}

I am so excited for another incredibly beautiful newborn photo shoot from Melissa Gidney Photography.  She captured little precious baby Lukas and his loving momma oh-so-beautifully.  I just love the sleepy stare of a newborn!

As a little bonus, Melissa also captured baby-L’s perfect nursery and oh-so-cute little baby shoes!  {secretly I am slightly obsessed with baby shoes and baby feet.}

Thank you Melissa for sharing your beautiful work with us once again!
