Real Maternity Shoots

Editorial style maternity sessions are not always easy to capture but Sarah Guy of Labour of Love Photography does an amazing job of accomplishing just that.  For the modern moms-to-be out there here are some images from my maternity shoot earlier this year.  I have to admit, I did not go into this wanting maternity photos, I was actually researching newborn sessions and happened to come across a great package that included pregnant pictures as well.  In the end I was so happy that I did this.  Not only are the photos great and in line with my taste, but they are a snapshot into a really special time in my life.  I would highly recommend all pregnant women do these, as you will one day be thankful that you did.

I love these pictures because they capture everything about my pregnancy; my staple black leggings that I wore on a daily basis, whether it was appropriate to do so or not, the snow that I very often had to trek in to make it to my neighbourhood starbucks, the story books I collected for my son’s nursery, and the minute by minute stroking of my belly which I could not help but do on a regular.  I hope you all enjoy them as much as I do, and that they give you some great ideas for your own shoot.

Fabulous Mom Makeup

Whether you’re heading out to a party or just joining the other moms for a play date, it’s always a good idea to try to put on some makeup.  It can definitely be a challenge with a baby, but it always makes me feel fabulous and it’s worth it.  I have recently perfected my makeup routine so that it never takes me more than 10 minutes, but it does wonders for helping me look less like a train-wreck and more like a human being.  If you’re scrapped for time and skills, but you’re heading out to an event, consider hiring a professional makeup artist to come to your home and make you look like the sexpot you once were.  In Toronto, makeup artists can range in price anywhere from $60 to$150 per hour, but the final result is well worth it.

Jasmine Hoffman, a professional makeup artist, will be a regular contributor to our website.  She will provide us with fabulous makeup tips, skin care regiments and product reviews to help us mom’s in our day to day lives.

Bugaboo & Missoni Collaboration

This week, while perusing my usual websites and blogs I came to discover that Bugaboo and Missoni collaborated together to develop a special collection of stroller designs for the Bee and the Cameleon!  I’m sure it will literally fly off the shelves.  This is the perfect summer accessory for fashion-loving moms and dads outthere and young tots will love it too as it provides invaluable visual stimulation.  In Canada only 3 retailers will be carrying the much anticipated prints, one of which happens to be right down the street from here in Toronto… so ofcourse I had to put my name on the waiting list!    The collection is available at only a few select retailers around the world beginning in July and only be available in limited quantities so get them while they are HOT!
